I have no savings, no family support, no safety net of any kind. 

What’s left of my family, my step-dad and brother, are both bankrupt and/or in massive debt.

Even if I got my act together, and saved ten thousand dollars a year for the next 30 years, I wouldn’t have nearly enough to retire. I might be able to eek out a sad, painful, broke existence for a few years. If I don’t get sick.

I’ve never managed to save even one thousand dollars in a year. With my tiny income, and so much of it going to student loan debt, it’s difficult to save anything at all. 

Not buying shoes or hair conditioner, never buying new clothes or getting my hair done, free hand-me-down furniture and dishes, it’s not enough. I’ve run out of places to cut back.

I’m really scared.
